This <\/span><b>13<\/b><b>th<\/b><b> edition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, taking place from<\/span><b> July 4 to 6<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, promises plenty of action, with the debut of the brand-new QMT-135 and the hosting of the Canadian Trail Running Championships in the 50 km and 80 km distances. All this, bolstered by the presence of international elites competing in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/worldtrailmajors.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World Trail Majors<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> rankings. Expect world-class sport, dizzying challenges, and showdowns that are as intense as they are inspiring!<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis edition has everything to make history: a new 135 km distance that will truly push participants to their limits, high-energy racing with the Canadian Championships, and a great international platform through the World Trail Majors. We expect spectacular performances and thrilling duels among both men and women, and across every race!\u201d <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Jean Fortier, General Director and Founder of Qu\u00e9bec Mega Trail<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>A Turning Point for QMT<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a record 300 registrations, the QMT-135 is already shaping up to become the ultimate QMT challenge. By merging the 100 miles and the QMT-110, the course has become more strategic and accessible\u2014yet relentlessly technical. From the start in Baie-Saint-Paul, along the river, to the steep slopes of Mont-Sainte-Anne, the QMT-135 offers a 100% wild adventure. New segments include the Sentier des Caps, Cap Br\u00fbl\u00e9, the Sainte-Anne River Canyon, Jean-Larose Falls, and two demanding ascents of MSA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But QMT is not stopping there. This year, $12,500 in prize money will reward the top finishers in the QMT-135 and the Canadian champions in the QMT-50 and the QMT-80\u2014two races that are part of the 2025 and 2026 Canadian Trail Running Championships. Another first in Qu\u00e9bec: real-time GPS tracking for nearly 100 athletes, funded by <\/span><b>MTLab<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. To follow the action live, QMT is launching a 12-hour LIVE TV broadcast, hosted by <\/span><b>Yannick V\u00e9zina<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Pas sorti du bois), <\/span><b>Nicolas Danne <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(On), and <\/span><b>Marie-Eve Pelland<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Tout.trail), running from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday for full coverage of the QMT-135. And to enhance the race experience: free hot showers, menstrual hygiene products on course, and a festive new event program\u2014all designed to make the race as human as it is epic.<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>QMT-135\u00a0: Local and Global Contenders Ready to Battle<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elevation gain\u00a0: 6, 000 meters<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The inaugural QMT-135 is already looking like a fierce battle between top international trail runners and up-and-coming Canadians. On the men\u2019s side, <\/span><b>Nelson Santos<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Portugal \u2013 ITRA: 846), who recently placed 5<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the 111 km Swiss Canyon Trail, and <\/span><b>S\u00e9bastien Camus <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(France \u2013 ITRA: 814), with a top-10 finish at UTMB, could steal the show. But they\u2019ll face strong competition from Qu\u00e9bec-based runners like <\/span><b>David Jeker<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 800), <\/span><b>Jacob Baril-Arnason<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 790), and <\/span><b>Matthieu Saliou<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 750).<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the women, expect a tight race between local specialists <\/span><b>Myl\u00e8ne Sansoucy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 672), fresh off a top 4 at the 2024 QMT-100 MILES, <\/span><b>Genevi\u00e8ve Asselin-Demers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ITRA: 714), last year\u2019s QMT-80 champion, <\/span><b>Camille Girard <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ITRA: 615), and <\/span><b>Elisabeth Cauchon <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ITRA: 608), as well as national and international stars like <\/span><b>Amanda Nelson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 670), winner of the 2024 Sulphur Springs 100-miler, <\/span><b>Maryline Nakache<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (France \u2013 ITRA: 718), who won the Marathon des Sables in April, <\/span><b>Emilie Mann <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ITRA: 712), and <\/span><b>Wenfei Xie<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (China \u2013 ITRA: 691), currently ranked 3<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rd <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the World Trail Majors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>QMT-80\u00a0: Canada\u2019s Best Go Head-to-Head<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elevation gain: 3,580 meters<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The QMT-80, part of the Canadian Trail Running Championships (long trail), is shaping up to showcase a stellar national lineup. On the men\u2019s side: <\/span><b>David Savard-Gagnon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 793), winner of the QMT-110 in 2024; <\/span><b>Jean-Philippe Thibodeau <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ITRA: 808), who took the QMT-80 in 2021; <\/span><b>Victor Larocque<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 793), 125 km champion at Ultra-Trail Harricana of Canada (UTHC); and <\/span><b>Elliot Cardin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 848) will all be at the starting line. Americans <\/span><b>Mead Binhammer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 756), a Vermont-based ecologist, and <\/span><b>Eric LiPuma<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 864), last year\u2019s QMT-50 winner, add even more depth to this competitive field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The women\u2019s field is equally stacked. <\/span><b>Kelsey Hogan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 649), a two-time QMT-100 MILES winner; <\/span><b>Alex Castonguay <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ITRA: 645), QMT-50 course record holder; <\/span><b>Julie Lesage<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 674), first in the 125 km at UTHC 2024;<\/span><b> Claudine Soucie<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 681); and <\/span><b>Jenny Quilty <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ITRA: 639) will be among the favorites, joined by American <\/span><b>Britta Clark<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 672).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>QMT-50\u00a0: Twice the Prestige<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elevation gain\u00a0: 2,300 meters<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The QMT-50 will not only crown the Canadian short trail champions but will also debut in the World Trail Majors Short Series. This dual status makes it one of the weekend\u2019s most coveted races.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the men\u2019s side, top names from Qu\u00e9bec will be there: <\/span><b>Benoit Gaillard<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 758), winner of the very first QMT-100 MILES; <\/span><b>Pierre-Charles Gendron<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 774); <\/span><b>Christopher L\u00e9vesque-Savard <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ITRA: 796); <\/span><b>Dany Racine<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 814); and <\/span><b>Antoine Jolicoeur Desroches<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 769). The international flair will come from British athlete <\/span><b>Robbie Simpson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 899), multiple medalist at Sierre-Zinal, and Canadian-Peruvian <\/span><b>Sergio Raez<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, fresh off a win at the Vancouver Marathon.<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the women, <\/span><b>M\u00e9lodie Gilbert<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITRA: 689) returns to QMT after winning last year\u2019s 32 km.
