The countdown is on: in just eight days, the trails of Mont-Sainte-Anne and Charlevoix will come alive with the strides of <\/span>3,600 athletes <\/b>registered across the <\/span>8 races<\/b> of the <\/span>Qu\u00e9bec Mega Trail<\/b>. This <\/span>13<\/b>th<\/b> edition<\/b>, taking place from<\/span> July 4 to 6<\/b>, promises plenty of action, with the debut of the brand-new QMT-135 and the hosting of the Canadian Trail Running Championships in the 50 km and 80 km distances. All this, bolstered by the presence of international elites competing in the <\/span>World Trail Majors<\/span><\/a> rankings. Expect world-class sport, dizzying challenges, and showdowns that are as intense as they are inspiring!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cThis edition has everything to make history: a new 135 km distance that will truly push participants to their limits, high-energy racing with the Canadian Championships, and a great international platform through the World Trail Majors. A Turning Point for QMT<\/b><\/p>\n

With a record 300 registrations, the QMT-135 is already shaping up to become the ultimate QMT challenge. By merging the 100 miles and the QMT-110, the course has become more strategic and accessible\u2014yet relentlessly technical. From the start in Baie-Saint-Paul, along the river, to the steep slopes of Mont-Sainte-Anne, the QMT-135 offers a 100% wild adventure. New segments include the Sentier des Caps, Cap Br\u00fbl\u00e9, the Sainte-Anne River Canyon, Jean-Larose Falls, and two demanding ascents of MSA.<\/span><\/p>\n

But QMT is not stopping there. This year, $12,500 in prize money will reward the top finishers in the QMT-135 and the Canadian champions in the QMT-50 and the QMT-80\u2014two races that are part of the 2025 and 2026 Canadian Trail Running Championships. Another first in Qu\u00e9bec: real-time GPS tracking for nearly 100 athletes, funded by <\/span>MTLab<\/b>. To follow the action live, QMT is launching a 12-hour LIVE TV broadcast, hosted by <\/span>Yannick V\u00e9zina<\/b> (Pas sorti du bois), <\/span>Nicolas Danne <\/b>(On), and <\/span>Marie-Eve Pelland<\/b> (Tout.trail), running from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday for full coverage of the QMT-135. And to enhance the race experience: free hot showers, menstrual hygiene products on course, and a festive new event program\u2014all designed to make the race as human as it is epic.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

QMT-135\u00a0: Local and Global Contenders Ready to Battle<\/b><\/p>\n

The inaugural QMT-135 is already looking like a fierce battle between top international trail runners and up-and-coming Canadians. On the men\u2019s side, <\/span>Nelson Santos<\/b> (Portugal \u2013 ITRA: 846), who recently placed 5<\/span>th<\/span> in the 111 km Swiss Canyon Trail, and <\/span>S\u00e9bastien Camus <\/b>(France \u2013 ITRA: 814), with a top-10 finish at UTMB, could steal the show. But they\u2019ll face strong competition from Qu\u00e9bec-based runners like <\/span>David Jeker<\/b> (ITRA: 800), <\/span>Jacob Baril-Arnason<\/b> (ITRA: 790), and <\/span>Matthieu Saliou<\/b> (ITRA: 750).<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Among the women, expect a tight race between local specialists <\/span>Myl\u00e8ne Sansoucy<\/b> (ITRA: 672), fresh off a top 4 at the 2024 QMT-100 MILES, <\/span>Genevi\u00e8ve Asselin-Demers <\/b>(ITRA: 714), last year\u2019s QMT-80 champion, <\/span>Camille Girard <\/b>(ITRA: 615), and <\/span>Elisabeth Cauchon <\/b>(ITRA: 608), as well as national and international stars like <\/span>Amanda Nelson<\/b> (ITRA: 670), winner of the 2024 Sulphur Springs 100-miler, <\/span>Maryline Nakache<\/b> (France \u2013 ITRA: 718), who won the Marathon des Sables in April, <\/span>Emilie Mann <\/b>(ITRA: 712), and <\/span>Wenfei Xie<\/b> (China \u2013 ITRA: 691), currently ranked 3<\/span>rd <\/span>in the World Trail Majors.<\/span><\/p>\n

QMT-80\u00a0: Canada\u2019s Best Go Head-to-Head<\/b><\/p>\n

The QMT-80, part of the Canadian Trail Running Championships (long trail), is shaping up to showcase a stellar national lineup. On the men\u2019s side: <\/span>David Savard-Gagnon<\/b> (ITRA: 793), winner of the QMT-110 in 2024; <\/span>Jean-Philippe Thibodeau <\/b>(ITRA: 808), who took the QMT-80 in 2021; <\/span>Victor Larocque<\/b> (ITRA: 793), 125 km champion at Ultra-Trail Harricana of Canada (UTHC); and <\/span>Elliot Cardin<\/b> (ITRA: 848) will all be at the starting line. Americans <\/span>Mead Binhammer<\/b> (ITRA: 756), a Vermont-based ecologist, and <\/span>Eric LiPuma<\/b> (ITRA: 864), last year\u2019s QMT-50 winner, add even more depth to this competitive field.<\/span><\/p>\n

The women\u2019s field is equally stacked. <\/span>Kelsey Hogan<\/b> (ITRA: 649), a two-time QMT-100 MILES winner; <\/span>Alex Castonguay <\/b>(ITRA: 645), QMT-50 course record holder; <\/span>Julie Lesage<\/b> (ITRA: 674), first in the 125 km at UTHC 2024;<\/span> Claudine Soucie<\/b> (ITRA: 681); and <\/span>Jenny Quilty <\/b>(ITRA: 639) will be among the favorites, joined by American <\/span>Britta Clark<\/b> (ITRA: 672).<\/span><\/p>\n

On the men\u2019s side, top names from Qu\u00e9bec will be there: <\/span>Benoit Gaillard<\/b> (ITRA: 758), winner of the very first QMT-100 MILES; <\/span>Pierre-Charles Gendron<\/b> (ITRA: 774); <\/span>Christopher L\u00e9vesque-Savard <\/b>(ITRA: 796); <\/span>Dany Racine<\/b> (ITRA: 814); and <\/span>Antoine Jolicoeur Desroches<\/b> (ITRA: 769). The international flair will come from British athlete <\/span>Robbie Simpson<\/b> (ITRA: 899), multiple medalist at Sierre-Zinal, and Canadian-Peruvian <\/span>Sergio Raez<\/b>, fresh off a win at the Vancouver Marathon.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Among the women, <\/span>M\u00e9lodie Gilbert<\/b> (ITRA: 689) returns to QMT after winning last year\u2019s 32 km. She\u2019ll be joined by <\/span>Elisa Morin<\/b> (ITRA: 722), a double gold medalist at the most recent Canadian Mountain Running Championships; <\/span>Laurie Proulx <\/b>(ITRA: 675), first in the 42 km Saint-Sim\u00e9on at UTHC in 2024; <\/span>Ma\u00efka Lamoureux<\/b> (ITRA: 655); <\/span>Sarah Bergeron-Larouche<\/b> (ITRA: 726); <\/span>Lisa Perrett<\/b> (ITRA: 666); and <\/span>Stephanie Ryall<\/b> (ITRA: 673).<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The QMT-25 and the QMT-32, returning for its second edition, will bring together runners eager to shine in these fast-paced formats. In the 32 km, keep an eye on<\/span> Samuel Audet <\/b>(ITRA: 741) and Chilean <\/span>Sebastian Eneros<\/b> (ITRA: 745), known for strong performances on technical European courses. In the 25 km race, <\/span>Benoit Didier<\/b> (ITRA: 754),<\/span> Olivier Gagnon <\/b>(ITRA: 745), 2<\/span>nd <\/span>at the QMT-25 last year, and <\/span>Timoth\u00e9e Courtois<\/b> (ITRA: 759) will engage a fierce battle for the top spot on the podium.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
