Stage race format arrives in 2026

The dust has barely settled on the 2025 edition, and already the Québec Mega Trail is setting its sights on 2026. The next edition will take place from July 2 to 5, 2026, along the scenic trails of Charlevoix and Côte-de-Beaupré, all the way to Mont-Sainte-Anne. Among the key additions to the program: two brand-new stage races and a 15 km nighttime race.

“I think our longtime QMT fans—the early die-hards—will be thrilled with the introduction of our new stage races, the Trans-QMT. It’s a clear nod to the legendary Trans-Vallée, which helped inspire the QMT and played a major role in the rise of trail and stage racing in Québec. With the growing passion for trail running and the success of QMT, it’s something we’ve long dreamed of bringing to life. In 2025, we had our sights set on the QMT135 and we’re proud of what we delivered. In 2026, we’re moving forward with the stage race format—while staying true to our core values: safety, community spirit, local color, and the one-of-a-kind QMT atmosphere.”

“La Totale”: Two Trans-QMT Options

The new three-day format, known as “La Totale,” will offer two options. Each format will be limited to 50 bibs:

Registration for all QMT events—including the Trans-QMT formats—opens on August 1.

QMT15: Now Under the Stars

With the introduction of the stage races, the QMT15 will now also be held as a night race. The race will start on Friday, July 3 at 9:00 p.m. Three hundred bibs will be available for this nighttime experience, not including those already reserved for Trans-QMT runners. The daytime QMT15 will remain on the program as well.

Fan Favorites Return

The classic distances—QMT135, QMT80, QMT50, QMT32, QMT25, QMT15, QMT6, and QMT1—will all return for 2026. The QMT50 and QMT80 will once again host the Canadian Trail Running Championships (short and long distances). Additionally, the QMT135 and QMT50 will remain part of the World Trail Majors international series.
