Québec Mega Trail celebrates its 15th edition with an enhanced event experience as registration opens August 1

Following a landmark 2026 edition, Québec Mega Trail (QMT) is unveiling the key additions and improvements that will shape its 15th anniversary event, set for July 1–4, 2027. Committed to delivering a world-class trail running experience while staying true to the event’s roots, the organization is introducing a series of enhancements designed to make the race weekend even smoother, more festive and more memorable.

Growing smarter, not just bigger

“We’re coming off an edition that exceeded our expectations in every way. I truly believe we’ve found the right balance. People come to QMT to push their limits, but also because they know they’ll experience something they simply can’t find anywhere else. For 2027, we’re keeping that winning formula while making thoughtful improvements that will make the weekend even more enjoyable for runners, volunteers and everyone who helps bring the QMT to life.” – Jean Fortier, General Director and Founder of Québec Mega Trail

Registration opens August 1 at 8:00 a.m. (ET) on Race Roster, QMT’s new official registration platform. A total of 4,000 race bibs will be available across all distances, allowing the event to meet growing demand while preserving the quality of the runner experience on the trails.

The traditional waiting list will also be replaced by three scheduled bib resale windows, giving runners a clearer and more predictable opportunity to secure a spot after registration opens.

A redesigned schedule for smoother race operations

Among the most significant changes for 2027, the QMT50 icebreaker will now take place on Friday morning instead of Saturday. This schedule adjustment will improve the overall flow of the event for 50 km participants while helping reduce congestion on trail sections shared by multiple races.

Meanwhile, the QMT6 Delta Mont-Sainte-Anne will move to Saturday morning, allowing for a better distribution of runners and race starts throughout the weekend.

Returning favourites from 2026

Several additions introduced at last year’s event will return after receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from participants.

The QMT15 night race returns in an even more festive atmosphere, enhanced with additional lighting and featuring two start waves to welcome more runners while improving the overall experience on course.

The stage races are also back, this time in two formats: Trans-QMT75 and Trans-QMT65. Both courses have been redesigned to include an opening 18 km stage on the iconic Mestachibo Trail, adding an extra challenge from day one and putting participants’ legs to the test before the weekend truly gets underway.

Following the tremendous success of the QMT30 as part of the Golden Trail World Series (GTWS), QMT is currently exploring opportunities to renew its place on the international circuit. As the 2027 GTWS calendar has not yet been announced, the distance will not be included in the initial registration launch. Runners are encouraged to stay tuned for future updates.

Another step toward a more sustainable event

As part of its ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and advancing its 2025–2030 Sustainability Policy, QMT will make its post-race meal optional during registration. Participants may choose to remove the meal when purchasing their race bib. Those who opt out will receive a discount on their registration fee, helping reduce food waste while giving runners greater flexibility.

Additional announcements will be unveiled over the coming months as Québec Mega Trail prepares to celebrate its 15th anniversary with an edition worthy of its remarkable history.
