Québec Mega Trail (QMT) is pleased to unveil today a brand new 21-kilometre distance, completing the list of ten different races taking place during the trail running event, from June 29 to July 2.
Québec Mega Trail wishes to increase its offer to trail running enthusiasts by adding this new racecourse. It also allows a greater number of athletes to register for one of the ten distances offered, while the 15 km and 25 km events have both been sold out since the fall.
“We are extremely proud of the growing popularity of our events! The other distances are pretty much sold out, so adding a 21 km course seemed appropriate. It’s a race that starts with a solid climb up Mont-Sainte-Anne and a spectacular view from the summit. The rest of the course will be rolling and fun to run, similar to the 25 km.” – Jean Fortier, General director and founder of Québec Mega Trail
QMT-21 course
The QMT-21 will start at the base of Mont-Sainte-Anne, requiring participants to be prepared for a brutal climb and then to take L’Escarpée trail to the summit at the start of the race. The descent will take place on the north side of the mountain, joining part of the QMT-25 path to the Auberge du Fondeur, where the only refreshment station of the course will be located. The second part of the race will be composed of downhill false flats that will lead the athletes to the finish line.
Runners wishing to get a bib to participate in the 21 km race will be able to register on the Québec Mega Trail website starting March 15 at 6:00 pm. The number of spots will be limited: only 300 bibs will be available for this brand new event.
Québec Mega Trail will soon finalize its registrations for the event. Only a few spots are still available for the QMT-100-MILES (160 km) and the 6 km.
